S#4: Agent Of Year Zero (414)

03/11/00

The episode begins with Lyle and an oriental man in the elevator and with Miss Parker interrupting them. She notices that he has a tattoo on his hand (a snake, in a circle, eating itself). Miss Parker questions that man's identity, while Lyle excuses himself to him. They head to a legalization center. Jarod is following them. While people from different origins talk to each other in the room, and after the judge's arrival, a blind woman starts walking in the man's direction and calling him "Thon, the butcher". Lyle takes him with him and Jarod watches the scene, while the woman is taken by the immigration services.

At The Centre, Miss Parker meets Sydney and Broots. The psychiatrist tells her that the man is called Ki Mok. Miss Parker says that is a Cambodian name and orders Broots to check who he is, as well as the meaning of his tattoo.

Jarod arrives to the INS and poses as agent Ellis, saying that he wants to speak with the blind woman. A few minutes later, Jarod ends up getting what he wants. At first, he talks to Kim Che in her own language, but they speak in English after a few moments. In the office, Willie and another sweeper also arrive, both saying that they are agents and that they're looking for Kim Che. Willie notices Jarod in the office, but Jarod and Kim Che are able to get out in time.

Lyle speaks with Ki Mok, who is telling him that Kim Che is an unfortunate person from his past. Ki Mok argues with Lyle and takes the glove out of his left hand. Willie interrupts them saying that he had an encounter with Jarod, who took Kim Che. Ki Mok says that they're in war.

In an apartment, Jarod looks at a picture and at a blood stained book, both owned by Kim Che. The picture is of her already dead family - they were all killed by the butcher.

Miss Parker meets with Sydney and Broots again. Broots tells her that Mok has been in the US from 3 months and that he came from Venezuela. Then, he informs her about the encounter between Willie and Jarod. She leaves the office to speak with Lyle. While Kim Che is sleeping, Jarod watches the photograph and the book again. Then, he grabs her bracelet and goes to Li Lo's grocery.

Miss Parker meets Lyle at The Centre hallway and asks him why is Willie working for him, when he is supposed to be working for Raines. She also demands to know who Ki Mok is. He doesn't answer her and goes into the bathroom, but Miss Parker follows him. Lyle explains her that he owed a favor to Ki Mok and that now he had the opportunity to pay it. Then, he tells her to focus on Jarod and to leave him alone before he looses his patience.

In the grocery, Li Lo tells Jarod that Kim Che watched her family's death when she was 6. Colonel Thon killed them and she could never see again.

At The Centre, Miss Parker tells Sydney what Lyle told her. Broots says that he couldn0t find anything about Ki Mok . Miss Parker tells him to keep looking in magazines or something like that.

Jarod gets back to his apartment, but Kim Che isn't there, moments later, he finds her near the church. They talk and she starts to trust him. Then, she gives him permission to examine her eyes. Jarod calls Sydney and tells him that he didn't find any damage in Kim Che's eyes. Sydney tells him that if she faces what torments her, she will see again. He also warns him that Miss Parker will be at Ki Mok's ceremony. Jarod explains what he just learned to Kim Che, but she doesn't doesn't want to face Chen Thon again. Broots was able to find an article from Bangkok that also shows a picture of Lyle. Miss Parker reads the newspaper and says that he was arrested for assaulting some prostitutes, but there's something more in there, because she is so upset that she ends up being sick with her stomach.

In his office, Lyle orders, in a telephone call, to erase any records from Thon. His oriental secretary arrives and tells him that Mok is waiting for him in the car. Lyle compliments her dress. He arrives at the limousine but, instead of finding Thon, he finds Jarod. Later on, Lyle is in a room with a black hood on his head. Jarod takes it off and tells him everything he knows about Mok. While he is speaking with him, Jarod fells a bucket of water and puts Lyle's feet into it and also puts water on him. Jarod wants Lyle to call Miss Parker, asking her to get him, but she will also be locked in the room. Jarod threatens him with cattle prod, if he doesn't do what he wants.

Miss Parker tells Sydney that the newspaper reports a double murder case and also says that Lyle, the prime suspect, cut a deal with a military man to be clear from the charges. Miss Parker says that the women were mutilated, that some of her organs were missing. She receives the call from Lyle, who says that he has caught Jarod.

In the audience, Ki Mok is giving testimony. The judge is impressed with his record, but Jarod arrives and starts to accuse him. By then, Kim Che arrives and positively identifies Chen Thon as being the person who killed her family, because she is now able to see. Mok is arrested.

Broots follows Miss Parker down the hallway, She isn't very happy, because she had to spend the entire night with Lyle. He tells her that Ki Mok's tattoo is a Cambodian symbol for cannibalism. Then, she remembers when she had to untie him and she saw the same tattoo in his arm. Then, she goes into Lyle's office and tells him that she is going to inform the Triumvirate about his personality. During this, he decreases the distance between them, but Miss Parker backs away. She says that Thon will help her, but Lyle shows her a newspaper that reports Thon's death as an accident. Lyle starts to eat something from a take-out Chinese food container. Miss Parker says that he is insane and when she leaves he immediately stops smiling.

Kim Che becomes an US citizen and Jarod is there to see her. He tells her that Thon is dead and she answers him that she read it in the newspaper. However, she believes that he died when she confronted him. She gives him her bracelet and says goodbye to him.
