S#4: Junk (415)

03/25/00

Miss Parker, Sydney and Broots arrive to Jarod's last lair, where there is already a team. A man on a wheel chair is leading it and tells Miss Parker that they found something weird in Jarod's room: drugs. Written on a paper, Jarod left the code "101776A22". Sydney is thoughtful.

Somewhere, Jarod is being taken by some personnel of an institute. Later, he is taken to a Rehab Center, where he meets Dr. Jason Earl. He explains the clinic's rules to him and, when they check Jarod's bag, they find a small packet with drugs (or at least something that looked like drugs). Then, the doctor talks to him about the circle of trust that is supposed to exist between them.

At The Centre, Miss Parker is reading the ads of people that are looking for others to Broots, who is extremely uncomfortable. Broots tells Sydney that what Jarod wrote represents a date, but he couldn't find out what "A22" means. Miss Parker looks at the newspaper's page and sees "A22" written there, so she asks Broots to look for the Blue Cove newspaper from October 17th 1976 and to check section A, page 22. Sydney is still acting weird.

In the clinic, Jarod is taken to his room and, still in the hallway, he sees another patient. Jarod begs for something to help him, but Garrett, the orderly, ignores him. As soon as he leaves the room, Jarod takes something from a bottle to induce vomit. Then, he watches a young woman being taken to her room and, then, he grabs his bag. From it he takes a red notebook, which contains an article about the woman he has just seen. She lost custody of her son after she was found unconscious, because she took drugs. Later on, Jarod attends therapy group. He tells them that he's going through an identity crisis. One of the presents says that he is mad with not assuming she has a problem. She says that she didn't use drugs, but no one seems to believe her.

Broots discovers the newspaper he had been looking for and it is the obituary, which has the death of David Arnold. However, he wasn't able to find anything about this former Centre employee. Sydney doesn't see any benefit in continuing with this search and leaves. Miss Parker wants Broots to tell what he finds only to her.

Jill looks at a picture of her son and Jarod tells her that he is there to help her, because he owes that to her father. A security tells her that her son is there to see her. Jarod is able to get to the video cameras room to see Jill with her son. With the child are his father and his fiancée. Jarod is found in the room and taken back to his own. Then, Jarod is able to decipher his door's code and goes into Jill's. Jarod shows her a photograph of her father and her and explains her part of his story to her. Her father gave him a family when he needed one. He also tells her that he believes her. Jill says that her father helped her to get through her drug problem in high school and that, afterwards, she remained clean for years. But a long time later, she started to use drugs again and lost everything: her son and her husband. She continues, saying that that she doesn't remember using that day, because she was already clean and was going to win her son's custody. At that moment, Dr. Earl arrives and Jarod hides. He gives her a Clonidine patch to help her sleep and assures her that she'll be released on Friday if everything goes fine.

Broots informs Miss Parker that David Arnold worked for The Centre 20 years ago and that there aren't any files of him. Mr. Raines arrives to the office and tells Broots that he has been entering without permission in The Centre medical records. Broots backs away from him. Raines says good things about David Arnold and Miss Parker says that he his dead. Raines obviously doesn't want them searching the past and Miss Parker reaches the conclusion that the DSAs must be with him. Broots doesn't like to know that his next mission will be stealing DSAs from Raines' office.

In the clinic, Jarod helps Huey to fix his motorbike. During the talk, Huey tells Jarod that he can get drugs with Garrett. Back to Jill's room, Jarod finds her with an overdose and calls for help.

Broots shows Miss Parker what he found.

Jarod goes back to Jill, who says not to remember what she did. He's going to help her, because he owes that to her father, David Arnold. Meanwhile, Broots and Miss Parker watch the DSA. Jarod is suffering the effects of drug use, when Raines arrives and gives him another shot. While Broots and Miss Parker watch the DSA, Jarod takes care of Jill and explains what happened to him. Jill's father, David Arnold, took care of him the same way he's taking care of her now. David gave a picture of his daughter and him, because Jarod needed something to fight for. In another DSA, Raines dismisses David Arnold and then tells a sweeper to get rid of him. David Arnold "drowned" in his pool. Broots and Miss Parker wonder where Sydney was.

Jill is getting better. Jarod notices the patch she still has on her neck and investigates. He finds out that the patches have narcotics on them and that is what is causing Jill's overdoses. Later on, Jarod gets Garrett to confess what Dr. Earl did to Jill. In the doctor's office, Jarod discovers that Hillary, Todd's fiancée, and Earl dated during college. After learning this, Jarod finds a way of getting them both to drink some water with strange substances.

Sydney is confronted with the DSA that Broots found. Sydney, extremely disturbed with the images explains that the drug was supposed to develop the mind and that it was Raines' project. Sydney shows them a DSA that explains his absence. Miss Parker and Broots observe that Sydney was submitted to the same drug use. In the clinic, Dr. Earl and Hillary are suffering the effects of the drug that Jarod gave them. They are tied to a bed and Jarod promises them that he'll give a Clonidine patch to the first one that tell him the truth. The plan was to keep Jill sick, so that Hillary could marry Todd, get Chris' custody and then get divorces and be with Earl. Todd listens to the explanation and Jarod doesn't give them the patches. Afterwards, Jill is released and leaves the clinic with Todd and their son.

Jarod calls Sydney to speak with him about what happened to him at The Centre. Jarod wants to know why Sydney didn't help him. Sydney explains that he made a deal with Raines. He told him not to use Jarod, to use him instead, but Raines ended up using both. The phone call ends and they are both emotioned.
