Jarod calls Miss Parker to ask her if she has seen Raines lately. She tells him that she doesn't question when she doesn't see him and Jarod tells her that if she doesn't question, she doesn't learn. Miss Parker tells Broots to find where Raines is.

In the restaurant, Jarod listens to a phone conversation. A man is telling an other to kill a child, before she has to testify against him in court. The day after, Jarod is posing as a 6th grade school teacher, in order to find the child. He only knows that it is an only child and a boy. After some hard time with the children, Jarod is able to make them answer him some questions. Afterwards, Jarod is introduced to the school principal and to the school counselor, Rachel Daly. Jarod is convinced that the boy is Matthew Reese, because the only records of him are from the last 11 months. The principal tells him that they were lost in a fire in his last school.

Broots discovers that Raines has been going to the "Pratt Institute", which is an asylum. There is a video of Raines with a woman. As Broots and Miss Parker watch it, Sydney arrives and says that she is Edna Raines, that supposedly killed herself 20 years ago. Edna Raines escaped from the asylum that night, so there's no way to find her.

Jarod is eating a corn dog, while he watches Matthew in his lunch break. He also speaks with Rachel about the boy, but she isn't able to tell him much about him. Jarod notices that the janitor is looking too much over the children.

The man that is going to be on trial, Esposito, threatens the person that is looking for the boy.

Later on, at home, Jarod receives the visit of 3 of his students' mothers that bring him dinner. The next day, a boy is mocking another. Jarod speaks with Matthew and is even more convinced that he is the one. He also defends Eric, the boy that was being annoyed, from Joel.

Sydney tells Miss Parker that he still can't believe that Edna is alive and also tells her that Catherine trusted her. Miss Parker recalls that Edna saw her when she had the mumps and then someone knocks on the door. Sydney and Miss Parker end their conversation and, when Miss Parker opens the door, she finds Edna there. She thinks that she's Catherine.

Jarod talks with Eric's mother about Joel. She's worried with the fact that Eric is always pretending to be a secret agent. Then, he speaks with Matthew's mother. During the conversation, he realizes that he got the wrong boy.

In Miss Parker's house, Sydney is trying to talk with Edna. She remembers Sydney, but then she returns to the state she was before. She's showing a total lack of stimuli, due to the years she spent sedated. They decide to get Angelo.

Jarod speaks with Eric. The boy tells him that he like a girl named Molly and Jarod tells him to speak to her. Jarod also sees Eric's secret book and his pager's number. Then, Jarod notices that Eric told him that he is his first friend since he arrives and realizes that Eric is the boy Esposito is looking for, He immediately goes after Eric, but doesn't find him. He finds the janitor - he is hurt - instead. However, Jarod is able to find the boy near his house. Jarod takes Eric and his mother to his own and explains them that there is someone working as an insider in the Witness Protection Agency.

At The Centre, Sydney tries to leave with Angelo, but Raines and Lyle appear before they made it and take him with them.

At Jarod's place, Eric is worried because he didn't speak with Molly. Jarod wants to find the person that wants to kill Eric and that works in the school.

At Miss Parker's, she's serving tea to Edna, that is still thinking that she's Catherine and not saying what she knows. Miss Parker looses her patience and, suddenly, Edna asks her how her mumps are. She also says that "Mirage" is her mother's work. Catherine started it and wanted her daughter to finish it. Then, she is silent again.

Jarod finds out that Rachel Daly is the person working for Esposito. When he goes to pick Eric in the bedroom, he doesn't find him there, because he went to speak with Molly. At school, Eric ends up in Rachel's hands, after running away from Joel. When Jarod gets there, he goes after them. Esposito wants to put Eric and Rachel inside a hole and then fill it with concrete, but Jarod reaches there in time and Esposito and Rachel are the ones that ends up inside the hole. He makes them confess their crimes.

At The Centre, Miss Parker asks Broots is he found something about "Mirage" and he tells her that he didn't, but that he'll continue to search for it. Lyle and Raines watch their conversation.

Jarod and Eric do a prank on Joel. He eats a bad brownie and goes directly to a bathroom. Its door opens and he is exposed to the rest of the class. Still in school, Eric's mother thanks Jarod for everything he did and Molly asks Eric to a dance party. When Miss Parker and Sydney get to her house, they don't find Edna, because she escaped through the bedroom's window.

Somewhere, Edna gets on a bus, while looking at a picture of Catherine and herself and singing the "Cree Craw" song Jarod used to sing.
